Endowment Categories
An endowment is a gift that keeps on giving. Your donation is invested permanently, and the earnings are distributed as grants year after year, creating a lasting legacy for the causes closest to your heart.
To make it easier to find the cause that speaks to you, our endowment funds are now organized into six categories.
Find the Cause Closest to Your Heart
Each category brings together endowment funds with a shared purpose. Choose a category to see the funds within it, and give directly to the one that speaks to you.

Plan Your Legacy
Life insurance, a bequest in your will, or a gift of securities are lasting ways to support the Foundation while providing meaningful tax relief.
Life Insurance Policy
Life insurance is an excellent way to provide tax relief to the estate of the donor. Several options are available, and we strongly recommend that you speak with your accountant and/or insurance agent to find the plan that best meets your financial needs. A brief overview of some of the options:
A. Foundation as Owner
Establish a policy with the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation as the owner. The Foundation receives the full realized value of the policy and issues a tax receipt in the name of the estate, based on the portion of premiums that were deducted for tax purposes. If all premiums were deducted, no receipt is issued; if none were deducted, the full value is receipted. If premiums stop, the Foundation as owner may choose to cover them.
B. Foundation as Beneficiary
Name the Foundation as a beneficiary of your policy. The Foundation receives the full realized value and issues a tax receipt in the name of the estate. As with ownership, the amount of the receipt depends on the portion of premiums that were deducted for tax purposes.
C. Transfer a Paid-Up Policy
Once the Foundation receives the proceeds, it issues a tax receipt to the estate for the full amount of the policy, minimizing the tax payable by the estate’s beneficiaries. There is no immediate benefit to the donor, as the premiums have already been paid.
Bequest in a Will
Include the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation as one of the beneficiaries in your will. A bequest can be a specific dollar value or a percentage of the proceeds of your estate.
The advantage: your estate receives an income tax receipt for the entire amount of the bequest.
Pledge of Securities
The Foundation can accept registered securities traded on a stock exchange. The tax receipt is issued at the current market value in the year the securities are transferred, representing a 44% tax credit.
The advantage: any unrealized capital gains are not taxable to the donor, which may result in a tax benefit of up to 65%.
Give Where the Need Is Greatest
A gift to the Capital Endowment Fund generates annual grants for approved charities and organizations, with distributions managed by the Foundation’s Grants Committee.
